In light of everyone’s busy holiday schedule and our well attended Christmas Light Ride which took place last Friday evening (21 souls braved the cold!) we will not be holding our monthly meeting on December 13, 2011.

HOWEVER….as soon as we turn the page we need to turn our thoughts to planning for Annual Bike & Walk Week, so if you have ideas it’s time to share those.  Also, I have word from city staff that a boat load of grant applications are coming down the pike.  Every grant application means an opportunity for us to submit a letter of partnership which basically says that NBPCA members (thats YOU and ME!) are ready and willing to do whatever is needed to help stretch the dollars with sweat equity.  So.. begin now to think about times and skills you could donate to the cause.

My wish for you this holiday season is that you are filled with hope.  Much has happened this year, because you showed up… to help educate kids, lead bike rides, teach people about healthy active living, took time to give input on surveys and at open house events, read your emails and posts to stay informed about the progress, and attended city council meetings and even testified there.   Progress is happening and it is due in large part to your involvement and it is getting the attention of city leaders.

We should all be filled with hope..that we are one year, one street, and one project closer to having a city where walking, cycling, and public transportation are safe, enjoyable, supported transportation options for all.   So, ring those bells and let’s celebrate all of the progress made this year!

Grace and peace to you and yours…..

LaRita
